Reading the Bible Like Jesus
“Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He interpreted for them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures. They said to each other, 'Weren’t our hearts burning within us while He was talking with us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us?'" Luke 24:27, 32 When Jesus looked at the Bible, what did He see? How did He read it? And why do the answers to these questions matter significantly to us today? When Jesus read the scriptures, He saw Himself as the total fulfillment of them all, that the whole Bible is unified in telling a story that leads to Him. And in such a short passage, we see the greatest Bible study on earth take place as Jesus shared His view on the Scriptures. The response? A burning heart for Jesus and for the Scriptures. This is our goal with this study: to discover how to read the Bible like Jesus read the Bible and to fuel a burning heart for Jesus and this ancient, but oh so important, text that has been left to transform our lives. By the end of this study, I want you to be encouraged about reading your Bible, equipped to be able to read it with a new perspective, and empowered to exercise the concepts we discuss and practice in this study! -Carson Burns
